Focal Trio 6 Be Active Studio Monitor Overview
Featuring a meticulously crafted design and the integration of Focal’s latest cutting-edge technologies, the new Trio6 ST6 stands as a versatile audio tool tailored to meet the demands of modern producers and audio engineers alike.
The Beryllium Legacy
Crafted at Focal’s renowned facility in St. Etienne, France, the Trio6 ST6 builds upon the legacy of Focal’s highly acclaimed Trio6 model from the ‘Be’ Beryllium series. This enhanced iteration is engineered to deliver an even higher level of detail, transparency, and uncompromising performance.
Under the hood, the Trio6 ST6 boasts an 8" patented W-Cone subwoofer, a reimagined beryllium tweeter with infinite acoustic loading for enhanced resonance control, and a 5" midrange woofer featuring Focal’s Tuned Mass Damper (TMD) technology.
TMD, a recent innovation from Focal, impressively reduces distortion by 50%, particularly within the 1-3kHz frequency range.
Refined Vibration Control
The Trio6 ST6 features a generously sized laminar port meticulously designed to minimize port noise during operation. Thanks to its fortified cabinet design, this speaker offers improved rigidity and damping, effectively managing vibrations and substantially reducing distortion.
When combined, the driver array and cabinet of the Trio6 ST6 deliver outstanding dynamics, impactful bass, and remarkable neutrality across the entire sound spectrum, all while maintaining exceptionally low distortion levels.
Introducing Dual Focus Mode
Building upon Focal’s widely popular Focus Mode, also found in the ST6 range and the historical SM9 studio main, the Trio6 ST6 allows users to seamlessly switch between full and reduced driver array configurations for comparative mixing. This feature ensures optimal results across a wide range of listening systems in various settings.
For maximum flexibility, the Trio6 ST6 offers two Focus Mode settings, enabling users to reduce the driver array to 2-way and 1-way configurations with a simple footswitch press.
Similar to its Solo6 and Twin6 ST6 counterparts, the Trio6 ST6 includes a variable high-pass crossover and a 160Hz parametric crossover to minimize reflections from the console or surrounding environment.
The automatic stand-by mode is activated by default to maximize energy efficiency but can be deactivated for users engaged in longer sessions with intermittent periods of silence.
