Electro-Harmonix Chillswitch Momentary Line Selector Pedal Overview

Finally, the Electro Harmonix Chillswitch Momentary Line Selector. For those of you unfamiliar with a killswitch, all it does is cuts out your guitar sound when you press it. You can get some really cool rhythmic effects, and lots of guitarists build them into their guitars. EHX have made an external killswitch so you don't have to take a drill to your beloved six string! Being Electro Harmonix however, they have added the awesome effects loop feature. If you want to - when you stomp the Killswitch, your signal can be sent to an optional effects loop instead of just being cut dead. As you can see - the possibilities in this mode are endless. You can switch in any effect or chain of effects into the signal for a quick burst or in a rhythmic fashion.

Very useful pedal which comes with a full set of instructions. Well built as usual from ehx.

I was keen to get one of these. It would be possible to build a killswitch easily, but EHX have added an effects loop plus the ability to have the circuit normally open or normally closed, and it's built on a printed circuit board rather than withflying leads so it should prove sturdy. The use of killswitches could become monotonous - rather like the re-triggered samples of the era of "n-n-nimeteen" and "Chaka-Chaka-Chaka Khan" - but for occasional bursts of echo or extreme distortion this is the tool. One odd thing: if held in the hand and pressed the footswitch feels like a latching one, yet under the foot it acts as expected as a momentary switch. Cool.
